Happy Mother's Day Sugar Cookies

Here's a post that I wrote over a year ago, but the topic I felt was very relevant.  Sugar cookies!  I had to post this recipe again because they are down right delicious and secondly because we have made the cutest sugar cookies at the bakery the last few days.  Since I was the froster extraordinaire on the bakery goodies I figured anyone could replicate my style and design.  Ok, there is no style or design, just a yellow frosted flower sugar cookie with chocolate sprinkles in the middle.  Sunflowers for your Muther!!  I even got our big manly baker Ryan to say the word cute.  Sometimes that's a hard one in a boy mind. So I hope you enjoy these cookies.  I'm going to go frost a few hundred more now thanks!!

I got the recipe from my domestic goddess cousin Lindi, who got it from her good friend Debbie (who by the way is my friend too.  We had debate together at Good Old Weber! Grand Old Weber.  Here's a toast to you!!  Can you hear the school hymn in you mind.  Sorry.)  and Debbie sold her soul I'm sure to come up with this recipe.  It is amazing what a little bit of lemon extract can do to a cookie.  These are delish, and delightful.  I served them at an 8-11 year old Achievement Day Talent show, and James took the rest to Bishop's Training.  I think they called him to be a bishop because they needed a baker in their midst to provide refreshment :)  Here is the recipe, and sorry Lindi and Debbie it isn't a new one for you, but thanks again for it.  It is my favorite!!

  4. Those are beautiful. I don't have any crisco in my house, but next time I go to the store, I am going to get some so I can bake some of these.

  5. Oh Lisa you make me happy with laughter every time I read your blog. You also give me great ideas too. We really need to get together and have a fun little cooking day. Lindi and I say we should do this all the time and never do it. So I am just letting you know that I have an amazing tie cookie cutter that you need to use and have Father's day cookies at the bakery. It's always a hit with the primary kids on Father's day!!!
