Sugar Cookies!

I have been waiting for over a year to have a really good reason to make these cookies.  I got the recipe from my domestic goddess cousin Lindi, who got it from her good friend Debbie, and Debbie sold her soul I'm sure to come up with this recipe.  It is amazing what a little bit of lemon extract can do to a cookie.  These are delish, and delightful.  I served them at an 8-11 year old Achievement Day Talent show, and James took the rest to Bishop's Training.  I think they called him to be a bishop because they needed a baker in their midst to provide refreshment :)  Here is the recipe, and sorry Lindi it isn't a new one for you, but thanks again for it.  It is my favorite!!

Debbie to Lindi to Lisa Sugar Cookies

2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 t. vanilla
2 t. lemon extract
Cream together

8 c. flour
1 t. salt
2 t. baking powder
2 t. baking soda
12 T. milk
Mix together until smooth.  Roll out with a rolling pin and use cookie cutters.  Bake in a 375'F oven for 8-10 mins.  (I actually baked for 7 mins.)  Cool and frost.

Frosting

1 1/2 cubes butter
2 lbs. powdered sugar
3 t. vanilla
milk to thin

Good job :) Marek is sitting here on my lap looking at those cookies saying more, more..which means he would like some NOW- I guess I will have to go and make some myself-you really can't beat them. Hope you all are doing well. I giggled about the derby post. Love, Lindi

  2. Those sound delish! I have mixed emotions about you sharing the recipe though... It means that if I want some, I can't just beg you for them, it means that I have to get off my own bum and make them... sigh! Really though, thanks for sharing. Love ya!

  5. I think we should call these "Debbie to Lindi to Lisa to Emmi Sugar Cookies!" I am going to try them! However, I am not sure how they will turn out baking in my 1800's Dutch oven that we have!
